Fleas Please…

Brooklyn Flea 2009

Recently, I’ve begun researching ways to start a small business with little or next to nothing in your bank account.  A few days ago, my local Flea market (The Brooklyn Flea) sent this article in Inc. Magazine to my attention.

It relates what a lot of sellers on Etsy and the web probably already know, Flea Markets are great incubators for your business!  From what I’ve been reading in the Daily Worth and CraftMBA recently, multiple places to sell your wares is a good way to get your business off the ground.  Plus, if you’re already selling online, just using the web may not give you the boost you need to make a living off the amazing stuff you sell.  For aspiring crafters like myself; farmer markets, craft fairs, and flea markets are great ways to get out there and get noticed.  They don’t cost as much as a huge convention fairs like ICFF or Surtex, and give you a temporary storefront and invaluable face time with your customers.  Plus, they’re fun!  I hope to get my game on after I start my website and sign up for one later this summer.

Here are some Fleas and Markets in Brooklyn, NY for you to check out:
